Update on Spring Garden Street Improvement Project

Updated: Mar 21, 2021

Many of you participated in meetings and the online survey for the Spring Garden Street Improvement Project.

Below is an update from OTIS, the Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability.

Thank you for your continued interest and involvement with the Spring Garden Street Improvement Project. We are wrapping up our analysis of the first round of public outreach from 2020, and we want to share our findings. We collected 2,100 comments between November 25, 2020 and December 31, 2020. We had 900 responses to the Bicycle Lanes Location Survey and 1,200 comments on the interactive map. There were four key takeaways from this round of public engagement:

  1. Pedestrians and bicyclists want safety improvements on Spring Garden Street

  2. Participants were overwhelmingly in favor of curbside parking protected bicycle lanes

  3. Participants want a green, clean, and beautiful corridor

  4. Connections to other neighborhoods, bicycle facilities, and the rivers are critical
